REAL WEDDING :: MARY CATHERINE + CARL {MEMORIES ON THE NATCHEZ}

Well, there is no denying that this beautiful couple was destined to be! A trip to New Orleans during Labor Day weekend is always a lot of fun. But what about experiencing love for the first time in New Orleans as well? It was “all that jazz” once Mary Catherine and Carl discovered the chemistry between one another. The lure and festivities of Bourbon Street would lead them to each other. Clearly, the rest was history!

Once the time was right, Carl was quite the gentleman by politely asking Mary Catherine’s parents for her hand in marriage. A couple of weeks later, Mary Catherine would experience the night she had been dreaming of her entire life. Romantically, Carl would fancy Mary Catherine with a night spent in City Park beneath the stars and a chandelier. Now, what girl does not love chandeliers? Right? Carl chose to pop the question in a true Peristyle fashion, the iconic City Park location that is. Mary Catherine blushed, “It was under those lights that he asked me to marry him and I cried out, “Yes, of course!”
The lovely couple chose an afternoon wedding in the month of November. The ceremony was held at the well renowned St. Louis Cathedral and followed with a reception on the Steamboat Natchez.

Carl served in the United States Coast Guard, while Mary Catherine was the first in her family to have a beautiful military wedding. Carl, along with his fellow Coast Guard groomsmen, was fully dressed in their all white uniforms.

The Newlyweds chose “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers as their wedding song.  Carl’s Coast Guard Pilot friends also recreated the scene from Top Gun by serenading Mary Catherine with “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.”

The joyous celebration would soon come to and end, and the two of them rode off together happily married in Mary Catherine’s father’s 1965 Ford Mustang. The couple would begin their life together as man and wife with a honeymoon in St. Lucia.
