Hi there!
I’m Jessica Burke. I got into the world of professional photography in 1996 and I’ve photographed so many weddings since that I’ve lost count. Ok, I never really kept count, but it has to be approaching 1,000, if not more. Bottom line I’ve been doing this a long time and I’m pretty good at it, if I do say so myself (insert winky face emoji here).
ABOUT MY WORK: I love bold color and intense black and white. I love discovering gorgeous natural light and capturing the textures it creates. If the natural light isn’t gorgeous, I have no problem using lighting to get it where it needs to be. I shamelessly embrace a good lens flare whenever possible.
When I photograph a wedding, I tune in to the tiny details while also making sure I get the big picture. I believe capturing the ambiance is incredibly important. I shoot with an editorial eye, honed by over 14+ years work in the magazine industry, both in shooting and creative direction.
I look for those moments – you know, the embraces, the tears, the smiles that light up a room – I have almost a sixth sense about capturing them. I also know how to read people and this helps set them at ease. I always work to show my subjects in their best light and this creates trust that melts stress and calms nerves. I am also not above pulling out a corny dad joke when the situation calls for it. You’ve been warned.
After more than 20 years of shooting, my brain thinks like a camera and I can see the finished image before I even press the shutter. The creative high of capturing the interplay of light and the world around us into photographs is one that never gets old for me.
If my kind of art sounds like your kind of art, let’s chat.
