What began with a wedding in the French Quarter is now opening the door to a new generation of wedding business owners.

What began with a wedding in the French Quarter is now opening the door to a new generation of wedding business owners.
New Orleans-based wedding planning and design company Uncommon Camellia has officially launched its franchise program, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to build their own wedding planning businesses using the company’s established systems, training, and support.
For founder Adrienne Brink, the expansion represents an exciting new chapter for the company she has spent nearly a decade building.
At NOW Weddings, we’re always excited to see wedding professionals in our community reach new milestones, and this one has the potential to bring a distinctly New Orleans-born approach to wedding coordination, planning, and design into markets throughout the South.
From One French Quarter Wedding to a Proven Business Model
Adrienne planned her first wedding in January 2017 in the heart of the French Quarter. It was a high-pressure, all-night experience that confirmed she had found her calling.
Since then, Uncommon Camellia has developed an approach to wedding coordination, planning, and design centered on detailed processes, thoughtful execution, and creating an experience that feels authentic to each couple.
The company’s coordination services begin approximately six weeks before the wedding, when the team gathers contracts and planning details, communicates with vendors, develops timelines, and prepares to oversee the rehearsal and wedding day.
For couples seeking a more comprehensive experience, Uncommon Camellia also offers full-service wedding planning and design.
Behind these services is an established operational system, including the company’s Wedding Details Form and its distinctive subway-map-style wedding timelines, designed to keep everyone involved informed and organized.
“Clients tell us a weight lifts the moment they hire us. That is the point. Beautiful weddings, and a system that keeps the people doing the work from burning out,” Adrienne explains.
That balance between delivering exceptional wedding experiences and creating a sustainable business for the professionals behind them is central to Uncommon Camellia’s next chapter.
Why Uncommon Camellia Is Expanding Through Franchising
The decision to franchise didn’t happen overnight.
According to Adrienne, Uncommon Camellia’s systems were tested through changing market conditions, including the disruption of weddings during the COVID-19 pandemic and the surge in demand that followed.
When weddings came to a halt in 2020, the company focused on strengthening its internal processes. Those investments helped position the business for growth when weddings returned, including expansion into full-service planning and design.
Adrienne points to another meaningful example of the company’s operational strength: seven women on the New Orleans team took maternity leave during a single year, and the business continued to grow.
“That only happens if the work is built on process, not on one person heroically holding everything.”
Now, Adrienne wants to make those established processes available to other entrepreneurs.
“Why reinvent the wheel? I would rather show them how to do it, and stay in it with them after they open.”
What Does an Uncommon Camellia Wedding Planning Franchise Include?
The franchise opportunity is designed for individuals interested in operating a home-based wedding coordination, planning, and design business within a protected territory.
Unlike some traditional business opportunities, the Uncommon Camellia model does not require a storefront.
According to the company, the estimated initial investment ranges from $56,460 to $67,590.
Franchise owners operate using the same core service model established in New Orleans, including:
- Wedding coordination for couples who have planned their celebration and need professional assistance executing it
- Additional coordination services
- Full-service wedding planning and design
Rather than developing their own processes, owners receive access to Uncommon Camellia’s existing tools, service structure, and client experience systems.
The company is exploring franchise territories across Southern markets, including Greater Austin, the Emerald Coast, Pensacola, Greater Memphis, Birmingham, Charlotte, and Raleigh.
These markets have been identified using historical wedding data, with the goal of bringing the Uncommon Camellia model into areas that can support the business.
Do You Need Wedding Planning Experience to Own a Franchise?
One of the more interesting aspects of the Uncommon Camellia franchise opportunity is that previous wedding industry experience is not required.
Neither is previous business ownership experience.
Adrienne says the ideal candidate is someone who is cheerful, detail-oriented, creative, and interested in building a meaningful business while following an established system.
The opportunity may be particularly appealing to someone who wants to transition from a traditional 9-to-5 career into business ownership without having to create every operational process from the ground up.
And while experienced wedding planners may certainly be candidates, Adrienne explains that success within the franchise model requires a willingness to embrace Uncommon Camellia’s established approach.
“People who love inventing their own process sometimes struggle inside a system. People who are relieved that the system already exists tend to thrive.”
The company’s emphasis on work-life balance is another important part of its business philosophy.
The model is designed to allow wedding-day execution to be delegated as the business develops, rather than requiring the owner to personally oversee every Saturday wedding indefinitely.
Training and Support for New Wedding Franchise Owners
For someone entering the wedding industry for the first time, training and ongoing guidance are essential parts of the opportunity.
Uncommon Camellia’s franchise process begins with an introductory conversation with Adrienne, followed by an application and review of the Franchise Disclosure Document.
Qualified candidates may then be invited to participate in a four-hour virtual Assistant Coordinator training program.
The next stage includes Discovery Days in New Orleans, where candidates spend time with Adrienne and the original Uncommon Camellia team, experience the company culture, and assist with an actual wedding.
Following the signing of a franchise agreement, owners receive additional in-person and virtual training, access to the company’s training course, and hands-on experience working alongside the New Orleans team.
Uncommon Camellia also provides on-site support for a franchise owner’s first booked event.
Ongoing support includes webinars, field visits, an annual conference, a dedicated franchise support coach, and access to the company’s operations, marketing, finance, and client experience teams.
Building a Wedding Business with Room for Real Life
For Adrienne, franchising is about more than expanding the Uncommon Camellia name into new markets.
It’s an opportunity to share the lessons, tools, and processes she developed while building her own business, and to help others pursue entrepreneurship with a support system already in place.
“What excites me is handing a business I had to build the hard way to people who get to start with the system already in place.”
Her vision is a network of Uncommon Camellia businesses across the South, each delivering the same approach to wedding coordination, planning, and design while supporting the people who make those celebrations possible.
“I want owners who can deliver the same calm, well-orchestrated experience our couples get in New Orleans, and who can do it without sacrificing their health or their families.”
It’s an exciting milestone for a company that began right here in New Orleans, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this next chapter takes Uncommon Camellia.
