REAL WEDDING:: Samantha Klipsch + Hannah Roberts {Bouquets and Beignets}
HANNAH AND SAMMY’S DOUBLE PROPOSAL:
“We each proposed to each other, and neither of us saw it coming. Hannah went first. We were living in D.C. at the time, and we biked to the National Cathedral in 100 degree heat. The combination of the hot summer day, weaving in and out of traffic, and Hannah’s pre-proposal jitters led to some bickering back and forth, so when Hannah got down on one knee in the Bishop’s Garden as the church bells rang, Sammy was speechless. After the shock wore off, she said yes! About a month later, it was Sammy’s turn and she had to make some last minute adjustments when it started to rain. We went out for a delicious meal at our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant. Little did Hannah know that some of our friends were back at our apartment lighting candles and stringing twinkling lights. The original plan was a rooftop candle-lit proposal, but since the weather didn’t cooperate, Sammy had to regroup and go with the backup plan: our living room. And it was perfect. Hannah was totally surprised. She said yes, too! So we had rain on one of two proposals AND our wedding day. Twice the good luck!”
THE BIG DAY:
“The whole day was perfect, but the cherry on top was singing Backstreet Boys while waiting in the bar with our bridal party as they moved our ceremony to the rainy day location. We couldn’t have planned a more perfect moment. The staff at Messina’s made the transition to the new space flawlessly and helped us create a ceremony more beautiful than we could’ve imagined.
But if you asked our guests, they would say the food. People are still talking about all the amazing New Orleans cuisine. Props to Messina’s. Best wedding food we’ve ever had, hands down!”
“We are so thankful for all our vendors. We had so much fun getting glammed up with Lacoste Hair Designs. Messina’s staff were so flexible and attentive, and helped things run smoothly behind the scenes on the day. Our florists from Rouse’s did an incredible job on our bouquets and floral arrangements. The cake from Mad Hatter Bakery was a delight to eat and to look at. Our DJ from Mobile Beat Entertainment had the whole room dancing all night. And our amazing photographer Aaryn Storms spent the whole day gassing us up and making us look beautiful, and then rode around town with us taking pictures at some of our favorite local spots well into the night. What a champ! We are also so thankful to the dozens of friends and family members who helped us plan and pull off our dream wedding. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
