Rachel & Alex’s story

Rachel Hunter and Alex Harvey’s story started like many modern love stories: a quick Hinge conversation on December 1st, 2018 followed by a first date on December 2nd, a second date, third date 2 days later, and a fourth date 2 days after that. They made their relationship official on January 11.“

Sometimes when you know you know,” says Rachel.

Alex proposed on Rachel’s birthday. Along with a beautiful ring, he gave her the best present of all-the promise to marry her and spend the rest of their lives together.

Rachel and Alex said “I do” at the NOPSI Hotel in New Orleans on March 24, 2024. They included several Jewish traditions in their wedding day including signing the Ketubah (the Jewish marriage contract), The Hora, and Breaking the Glass. “In Judaism, the breaking of the glass at a wedding is a symbolic hope that you will spend as many years together in happiness as it would take to collect all the pieces of the glass and reassemble it,” Rachel explains.

Following the wedding ceremony, the couple treated their guests to a Second Line through the streets of downtown New Orleans. A reception followed with dinner and dancing.

Rachel and Alex’s dog Rex, who they adopted during the pandemic, and Rachel’s family’s dog Lexi made appearances at the wedding as miniatures on the wedding cake as well as life-size cardboard cutouts, and Lexi even served as Rachel’s “flower girl.”

The reception ended with a sparkler exit and then the newlyweds met their guests at Pat O’s to continue celebrating.
