REAL WEDDING:: MARGARET BLUE + TRAVIS PERKINS

MARGARET + TRAVIS’ STORY:

“We actually met in high school but were only friends,” says Margaret. Travis went to an all boy’s school next to Margaret’s all girl’s school and they two had several mutual friends. Margaret went to LSU and Travis went to Rhodes College. After Travis received his masters, he moved home to Houston and a mutual friend invited Travis out with Margaret’s group of friends and became part of the group. Margaret and Travis got along so well right away and started dating shortly after. Five years later, Travis surprised Margaret with a wedding proposal on a Friday night. He asked Margaret’s closest friends to fly into Houston to surprise Margaret after he proposed at Margaret’s house.

Travis' favorite moment was the first look and "that big ole smile of Margaret's when I turned around," he shares.

The couples didn't have a ring "bear"er, but a ring "dinosaur" according to Margaret's 3-year-old nephew George, who stomped up the aisle like a dinosaur with the flower girl, Margaret’s niece, Caroline.

Margaret and Travis said their vows in a traditional Catholic Mass at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church on Baronne Street and then second lined with their guests to the reception at the New Orleans Board of Trade.

Travis surprised Margaret by singing Elton John's "Your Song" during the reception while the band played the music. “He was secretly practicing for weeks and was getting voice lessons to make it perfect,” shares Margaret “...which it was.” Margaret says this was her favorite part of the day and whenever she hears the song, it takes her back to the wedding.
